Sometimes I'm asked by a couple "What would happen if for some reason you weren't able to photograph our wedding?" and I have always reassured them that although it has never happened in the 100+ weddings I've photographed, I would never leave them stranded on their wedding day. Recently, due to a family emergency, I had to fly overseas at very short notice and unfortunately couldn't get back in time for Jillian and Scott's wedding day.
This is where my brilliant second photographers Terri and Sarah stepped in. With the couple's blessing they took over for me and photographed this beautiful wedding perfectly. I'm very lucky to be able to work with two such talented girls, especially as cyclone Marcia was making its presence felt in a big way on the Sunshine Coast that weekend, with black skies and plenty of rain and lots of photographic challenges.
Of course, the fact that the lovely couple were so relaxed and happy on the day was a major advantage. The bride was absolutely stunning in her gorgeous dress and cathedral length veil and the dark skies on the stormy beach were an amazing backdrop for the black and white colour scheme. I've loved editing the photos, and almost feel I was there on the day, from the tea and cake at the church after the ceremony, to their arrival at the reception in a beautiful little boat the Lilly's on the Lagoon at Twin Waters. A beautiful, dramatic, perfect wedding day!
