The rain, the dog and the happiest day

This lovely couple's wedding day was about as wet as they come, so things didn't go quite as planned. Celebrant Michele Collins came to the rescue and conducted the touching ceremony at her beautiful house, and we did make it down to the beach for some photos in between showers, much to Maddy the dog's delight!

Sky blue dresses and stormy summer skies

A wonderful couple who had travelled all the way from Perth to get married in Noosa, with family and friends travelling all the way from New Zealand and Western Australia to celebrate with them. Once again the stormy summer weather meant the ceremony had to be moved inside the reception venue at Australis Noosa Lakes; but it was a very touching affair conducted by celebrant Jacqui Clarke with the couple ensuring their two daughters played an important part in the ceremony - a lovely gesture. The rain stopped long enough for us to take some photos on the jetties at Tewantin, where the bridesmaids' gorgeous sky blue dresses looked amazing against the grey skies.

Sunshine and Gliders : Mooloolaba Wedding

It was a beautiful bright, sunshiny day for this wedding of a very stylish couple from Sydney, which was organised by Cloud Nine wedding planners. The bride wore a gorgeous lace embroidered wedding dress with a detachable train and the wedding car was an amazing vintage Dodge. The ceremony, conducted by celebrant Tim Abbott was on Alexandra Headland and the guests were entertained by a guitarists and a singer and a colourful array of paragliders who took off and landed nearby.

The location photos were taken at Mooloolaba Beach, followed by the reception at the 4th Floor restaurant in Mooloolaba.

this eagle wasn't too impressed with the presence of the paragliders!

With just close family and friends in attendance, the ceremony and reception were held at a stunning holiday house overlooking Castaways Beach, with location photos at Noosa National Park and Noosa Woods, and finally on Castaways Beach at sunset.

One of my favourite places in Zimbabwe is Domboshawa, just outside Harare where I have spent many happy hours with my brother and cousins. Meaning 'red rock' in Shona, Domboshawa is a huge granite rock covered in lichen in three different colours, yellow, green and of course red. Bushman paintings can be found in a cave on the side of the rock.

So if you add one of my favourite little families to one of my favourite places in the world, you get one of my favourite family photoshoots!

Despite the cold wind on the day of this winter wedding, the explosion of fuschia pink of the bridesmaid's dresses and the flowers and the love in the air warmed everyone up beautifully!

The gorgeous bride, her two beautiful bridesmaids and her daughters (two of the cutest flowergirls ever!) got ready at the couple's house at Golden Beach.

The ceremony, which was full of laughter and tears of joy, was just down the road on the jetty at Golden Beach, and celebrant Michele Collins did an amazing job keeping all the papers together in the blustery wind! This was followed by a location photoshoot at the beautiful Shelly Beach and was followed by a reception at Caloundra Power Boat Club.

I always think it is important for any photographer to have a personal project. At a recent visit to the Queensland Art Gallery I was inspired by Sydney Long's painting "Spirit of the Plains" to create something similar photographically ....

so I found a picturesque spot, added a long suffering daughter in a dress from ebay, a camera and an off camera speedlight, ....

This wedding was wet. And wonderful. Because when you get a really lovely couple it follows that their family and friends are all lovely people too. And who notices the weather when you have a gorgeous bride with the sunniest nature around.

A change in venue was the only option - and the Noosa Sheraton came to the rescue and offered their covered verandah for the ceremony which was perfect .....

After the ceremony everyone got on board the Catalina cruise for a wonderful trip up and down the Noosa river. And guess what ....... the sun came out!

The water really was this golden colour - and then a rainbow!

I just loved photographing this wedding. Lovely young couple, charming families and friends, beautiful locations, a laid back beachy vibe ... what more can I say! The only thing that was a little less than perfect was the weather, but those grey skies added plenty of drama to the location shoot on Noosa Beach!

Spring Beach Wedding

After weeks of rain it was lovely to see a gorgeous spring day for this wedding of a young English couple. The simple ceremony attended by close friends and family was at a beautiful location at Sir Leslie Wilson Park in between Dicky and Moffat Beach and was officiated by marriage celebrant Michele Collins.

I loved the white arch and table provided by Michele - so crisp and fresh against the blue sea and sky.

The bouquet, which was made b the bride, was a mixture of English roses and Australian wildflowers, representing the couple's heritage and their new homeland. I love these very personal touches in a wedding.

Weekend of Wet Weddings - 2 - Sunshine Coast wedding photographer

Well, if we thought Saturday's wedding was wet you should have seen Sunday! Not only was it pouring with rain but the wind was really howling and the seas were huge. So J & D had to abandon their plans for an outdoor wedding by the lighthouse at Point Cartwright, and instead the small ceremony was held at EV Bistro Wine Bar in Mooloolaba where the wedding lunch was to be held. But despite the weather and the change of plans it was a beautiful simple ceremony with J & D surrounded by their children and family - just as it should be ....

After the ceremony, we thought we might be able to go down to the beach (which is just across the road) for some photos but the rain was unrelenting so we took over the rather retro water feature at the small shopping mall under the restaurant - and had some fun!

A weekend of wet weddings - 1 - Sunshine Coast wedding photographer

Wow - what a wet weekend is was! I think we had about 250 mm (10") of rain between Friday and Monday along with huge seas, whipping winds and grey skies constantly threatening a downpour. But fortunately the two couples whose weddings I shot were lovely, calm happy people desipte the fact that both weddings were planned to be outdoor/beach ceremonies.

A & K were such a pleasure to be with despite the venue for the ceremony only being decided half an hour beforehand. Fortunately the rain stopped for a brief period in the afternoon; just long enough for the ceremony (at a park in Warana) and the photoshoot at Moffat Beach to take place.

The lovely bride getting ready at Beachside Resort in Buddina. The penthouse has amazing views but unfortunately there was such a howling wind outside we would have been blown off our feet out on the balconies!

This has to be one of my favourite wedding dresses ever - just beautiful.

The colour scheme was amazing - just made to bring that spark of colour to a grey day!

The little flowergirl was a total star. This was her fourth wedding as a flowergirl and she was sooo sweet and professional. Her little brother, however, had a very different attitude to weddings!

Always need a shot of the papparazzi!

Moffat Headland is a beautiful spot, and thankfully the rain held off while we took the photos. Look at those gorgeous flowers!
